Both live donor and cadaver transplants are carried out. Our experienced transplant surgeons have successfully performed more than 100 liver and 500 kidney transplants between them.

A multi-disciplinary team approach is one of the special features of our program. Ours is a one-stop center for abdominal organ transplantation providing total care to all our patients.

Before the transplant, our transplant coordinators counsel the patients and their families thoroughly about the entire process. They also undergo a detailed evaluation by multiple specialists to reduce complications and ensure a successful outcome. After the transplant surgery, the patients are admitted to a dedicated ICU and later to a transplant ward, where the nurses and other staff are trained to take care of transplant patients.

We maintain an organ transplant registry at our Centre. All our patients who are waiting for cadaver organs are placed on a waiting list, and organs become available on a shared basis with patients from other hospitals. We are also actively involved in organ awareness campaigns to educate the public and other healthcare workers about organ donation and transplantation. We regularly conduct talks and seminars in schools and colleges, and various other institutions and organisations.

Vascular Surgery. Specialised treatment for peripheral vascular disorders is available.This includes. Assessment of leg pain (claudication) and leg ulcers. Surgeries for varicose vain .Bypass Surgery for chronic leg ulcers. Vascular access surgery. Aneurysm repair surgery. Carotid artery surgery.

General Surgery Surgery for hydrocele, hernia, piles, anal fissure and fistula, appendix, breast and thyroid surgery.

Department Nephrology

The Department of Nephrology at Madras Medical Mission Hospital provides comprehensive and state-of-the-art care to patients with kidney disease. Staffed by a team of highly trained and experienced nephrologists, nurses, and support staff who work together to provide the full gamut of nephrology services to patients, the Nephrology department aims to reach the unreached.

The department also provides specialized care for patients with chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, hypertension and electrolyte imbalances. The department provides dialysis services, including in-center hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Patients who require kidney transplantation are also evaluated and managed by the department, including pre-transplant evaluation, transplant surgery, and post-transplant care. The department also offers specialized clinics for patients with specific kidney-related conditions, such as glomerulonephritis, diabetic kidney disease, and polycystic kidney disease. These clinics provide multidisciplinary care, including consultations with dietitians, social workers, and other healthcare providers to provide holistic and patient-centered care. We are also one of the few centers providing onconephrologycare.Given that the kidneys are central to organ cross talk, the department of nephrology works together with the other Institutes of the MMM family, to provide holistic care that treats our patients beyond the usual silos of modern medical management. The department also has a robust research program that is dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of kidney disease. The research program is supported by state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, including a clinical research unit, laboratory space, and access to cutting-edge technology.

In addition to providing clinical care and research, the department is also committed to education and training. The department also provides continuing education and training opportunities for healthcare providers to ensure that they are up-to-date with the latest advances in nephrology.
